Casamigos Tequila is one of the most well-loved tequilas today because of its ultra-premium taste. The Casamigos brand is famous for being started by Hollywood movie star George Clooney, and is one of the fastest-growing tequila brands in the world.

Casamigos was in fact ‘accidentally’ founded in 2013 by George Clooney alongside bar and restaurant tycoon Rande Gerber and property developer Mike Meldan. Some years before, Clooney and Gerber were at a bar one night reflecting on how they still hadn’t found their ‘perfect tequila’ despite all the bottles and brands they’d tasted, so doing what any sane tequila-drinking multimillionaire would do, they decided to create their own.

In a 2018 interview, Gerber explained how they "wanted one that didn’t burn going down, that was super smooth, that we didn’t have to mix and could drink straight or on the rocks, and could drink all day long without being hungover in the morning."

They sampled 700 different recipes across their 2-year search. When they finally found their recipe it quickly became a hit among all their friends and they were soon ordering 1000 bottles a year of the stuff. This was when the manufacturers informed them that if they wanted to keep this up they’d have to get a licence. At this point, Meldman joined in and the three of them took a leap of faith and launched the brand ‘Casamigos’ commercially in 2013, going on to win multiple awards at various spirits competitions.
