Diplomatico Mantuano

Diplomatico 'Mantuano', ‘nobleman’, reflects Don Juancho's status as well as his passion for travel and the discovery of new spirits – particularly rum. Don Juancho’s picture is present on each of Diplomatico's Tradition rage.

Aged for up to eight years, Mantuano is a blend of column still, batch kettle and pot still rums and made from molasses and sugar cane honey. Designed specially to offer true versatility, it is fantastic when mixed in all manner of cocktails, or can simply be enjoyed neat or over ice.

Nose - Thick, heavy and sweet – like wading through molasses. With some time, black treacle, cherries and Millionaire’s Shortbread come through, wrapped in sweet liquorice and milk chocolate.

Palate - Spicier than expected from the nose, but rich and oily in texture. Cinnamon and nutmeg lead into sharper notes of polished oak before caramel sauce, soft toffees and hints of balancing bitter barrel char.

Finish - Soft and sweet, with herbal hints slowly fading to leave spicy oak.

Comment - Dark and richly flavoured with a texture to match – oily and sticky. The sweetness is tempered by gentle notes of oak and char, making it an excellent easy drinking sipping rum with enough punch to add a rich backbone to a cocktail without getting lost.
